The Weekly Art Update 68 – Grace Athena Flott | SEATTLE EDITION

Artist based in Seattle, WA

Grace Athena Flott is a Seattle based painter whose work explores the myth of normalcy and how society shapes ideas of health, beauty, gender, and the body. Raised in white suburban America, she once tried to fit into these expectations until a major life experience changed the way she understood her own body and its place in the world.

THEY HUNGERED FOR MORE (BITE) / 2025

They Hungered for More (Bite) / 2025 explores desire, the body, and the tension between beauty and discomfort. Through Grace Athena Flott’s intimate figurative style, the work invites viewers to think about hunger not only as a physical need, but also as a longing for care, identity, and being fully seen.

Through lifelike figurative painting, portraiture, Renaissance inspired imagery, and surreal storytelling, Flott challenges mainstream ideas of representation. Her work uses a feminist disability justice lens to create intimate, emotional spaces where the body is shown with honesty, care, and power.
